Flyers winger Nikolay Zherdev cleared waivers on Thursday, but is going nowhere for the time being.

A source said that the Flyers will keep him on their NHL roster through this weekend.

A decision whether to loan Zherdev to the Phantoms or allow him to remain on the roster wont be made until Mondays NHL trade deadline. Sources said that due to the filing date, the club was unable to assign Zherdev until after the deadline, anyway.

There is some thought that if Zherdev is sent to the Adirondack Phantoms, he wont report and will likely pack his bags and return to the KHL in Russia.

General manager Paul Holmgren was not immediately available for comment as to what the organization intends to do with Zherdev, whose agent, Jay Grossman, requested over the weekend that his client be placed on waivers.

Zherdev has been a healthy scratch six straight games.

So, for now, Zherdev remains as he has beenan extra forward on the Flyers roster.
