Lavy says

Coach Peter Laviolette on matching other teams intensity right now:

Thats something we got to continue to push; I said that from the start, I continue to say it. There wont be an easy game for us for the rest of the year. No matter who youre playing, it wont be easy. So every game means something now. Organizations are not going to make the playoffs if youre trying to reboot. Theres 16 teams trying to make the playoffs and theres eight or 10 teams fighting for a spot. There are no easy games and we have to continue to press them.

By the Numbers
Minus-4For Matt Carle in his last two games

Minus-5For Chris Pronger in his last four games

Minus-6For Danny Briere in his last six games

Minus-7For Braydon Coburn in his last six games

0Goals for Briere over eight games

2Goals for Scott Hartnell in his last 16 games

6Goals allowed by Sergei Bobrovsky in his last two appearances

8Goals allowed by Brian Boucher in his last two starts

4-4-4Jody Shelleys fight record

This date in Flyer history
In 1999, the Sabres tied the Flyers, 1-1, at Buffalo as referee Dan Marouelli overturned a John LeClair goal that would have given the Flyers a 2-0 third period lead because of interference on Eric Lindros, who collided with Michael Peca behind the net.
Milestone
Boston completed a perfect 6-0 road trip last Wednesday with goalie Tuukka Rask going 4-0. That matched the team's longest perfect trip since 1971-72, when they eventual Stanley Cup champions won six straight from Feb. 17-26.
Quotable
Anaheims Bobby Ryan scored on a penalty shot against Jimmy Howard to give the Ducks a 2-1 win last week. It was Ryans 30th goal, too.

That shot seemed to work for me in the last couple of shootouts, Ryan said. There wasn't any other game plan. If that didn't work out, he was making the save. I just tried to close my eyes and put it in the right place.
Coming up
Its a three-gamer as the Flyers welcome lowly Edmonton into Wells Fargo Center on Tuesday, then travel to Toronto for Thursdays game, and finally, meet Atlanta on Saturday.
Week in Review
CSNPhilly.com readers get to rate the Flyers performances this season. Each week we will post a recap of the past games and what our readers had to say about them, based on the comments posted under the game stories written by myself or Sarah Baicker. Any foul language will result in a game misconduct.

March 3: A 3-2 loss against Toronto. Flyers lose for fourth time in six games as desperate Maple Leafs stay within three points of a playoff berth, rally from 2-1 deficit in the second to tie and win it late in the third period. Despite back-to-back games, Leafs seem to have more jump at the end. Flyers hurt themselves with turnovers and 10 penalties in the game while the power play goes 0-for-3.

I think it's okay to e a little panicked. As was the case last year they are playing horrbly after the All Star break. Losing to the Senators and Leafs in back to back games is not good at all. The Bruins are in the rear view mirror, have momentum and in my opinion have equal talent to the Flyers and are definitely better in goal. The Flyboys better hope someone knocks off the Bruins and Lightning in the Playoffs of it's a toss up. The Bruin defense is pretty darm close if not matching the Flyers with the addition of Kaberle now. Flyers better take their heads out of the butts now!

Subject: Richards

I am begging to think that Mike Richards is too young and this team needs a new captain, I think Keith Primeau was a great captain and I am not seeing Richards have any impact as a leader

March 5: A 5-3 loss to Buffalo. Flyers blow a two-goal lead after first period on Sabres. They were 17-7-1 coming into game with two-goal leads. They lose for the third time in succession, which had not happened since Oct. 14-21 this season. The Sabres are desperate for a playoff spot, like Toronto, and play like that throughout the game. Bobrovskys fourth loss in five starts, including overtime. Goal differential is minus-7 in third period over last seven games.

Everyone's gonna blame Bob right? Anyone that does clearly didn't see the game! Played great in the 1st looked uninterested for the next 40 minutes! Story of the Flyers, can't play a full 60 minute game, can't even show up for half a game now!

Subject: 3rd period woes have gone on all year

The Flyers cannot hold leads in the 3rd period and its existed all year.. I dont think there is a motivational problem with the team, I just think its continued carelessness. The defense is just too loose and mistake prone right now.. I fully expect Boston to take over 1st place in the East soon and it will be between them and the fast charging New jersey team to represent the East in the Cup Finals.. After a great start, our Flyers look doomed.

March 6: A 7-0 humiliation to the Rangers at Madison Square Garden. It was the worst Flyer defeat in history at MSG and worst shutout loss in 17 years for the Flyers. Ryan Callahan had four goals. Sergei Bobrovsky chased for Brian Boucher in the second period. The Flyers seem to hit rock bottom. Chris Pronger says players are not on the same page. Mike Richards quips its more like same chapter.

Subject: Calling out the Players

I am calling out the players on this- You want to quit on this team, the fans, and the city. Then tell management you want to be traded to Edmonton. Go quit on them. We don't like quitters and players that have no balls. And that's exactly what this team has now. 40 year Flyer fan and I have NEVER seen a team with this supposed talent get beat AND outplayed in these last 4 games. You want to wear Orange and Black then play like you deserve it. Otherwise get out of my town. We don't need anyone not willing to give 100 on every shift. And for Homer: Now maybe you and the brain trust see what value a top goalie has???

I think it is time for Homer to address the team and level set them. Not sure if Lavy is losing a bit of them, but Homer Time tomorrow could help. Their play the last month has been spotty, although they were finding ways to win most games. The last four leading to this awful turd should be close to rock bottom. Let's get something to build on with Edmonton and shake this off soon. Doc
