BUFFALO, N.Y. -- The war of words between friends may have begun on Tuesday afternoon in cold, chilly, rainy Buffalo.

Sabres goalie Ryan Miller had some things to say about his buddy Danny Briere and it certainly caught the Flyers center off guard.

Things began innocently enough when Miller talked about Brieres sweet spot on the ice.

He likes to be around the net, Miller said. Hes on the right team for it. They get pucks to the net, they allow him to kind of find situations where he can get open and sniff around and hang around and play to some of his strengths.

Then it got interesting when Miller relayed that Briere was chirping at him on the ice, trying to get into his head.

Yeah, because its all fluff coming from him after the amount of years weve known each other. You cant automatically hit a light switch and be a hard ass to me. Its not going to do anything.

I respect his talent and I respect what he wants I try to do out there, and if you try to get the better of each other, and when he gets the better you know its the headline. Even though he gets however many chances, if one goes in, its a headline.

Briere was caught off-guard late Tuesday by the remark when CSNPhilly.com caught up with him.

Wow, Briere texted CSNPhilly.com. Hes definitely getting wrong info. First, I havent said a word to him on the ice and off the ice, Ive only had good things to say about him because of the respect I have for him. So, Im not gonna play that game with him.
