The Russian has landed.

That is, goalie Ilya Bryzgalov arrived in Philadelphia on Wednesday from Russia, as the Flyers sent Ed Sniders private jet to JFK Airport to personally pick up the former Phoenix Coyote up and whisk him to Philadelphia.

Snider was not aboard his plane, a Flyers source said.

Well all get to meet him on Thursday, the source added.

Bryzgalov and his agent, Ritch Winter, will be meeting with staffers on Thursday and Friday as the two sides attempt to hammer out a contract.

The Flyers traded for Bryzgalovs rights last week. They have to sign him by July 1 or he becomes an unrestricted free agent.

Bryzgalov has a busy day ahead of him as he is expected to meet with Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette and goalie coach Jeff Reese in the morning, among others at Skate Zone, then meet with Flyers brass later in the day at Wells Fargo Center.

Neither Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren nor Winter want to talk about the negotiations until theyre over, one way or the other.

We are in a bunker hiding from you guys, Winter texted CSNPhilly.com. Not planning to be found.
