A day after it was reported that Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson used homophobic slurs during a radio appearance on a Sirius XM hip-hip station, the big-play Pro Bowler has issued a public apology.

Jackson, speaking through his Twitter account, looked to clear the air a short time before 8 p.m. on Saturday in a series of tweets.

"I am sorry for using words that I know to be hurtful and unacceptable in a recent radio interview," Jackson, 24, wrote.

"I have made a mistake and would like to make it clear that words I used meant no disrespect to the Gay and Lesbian community," his second tweet read.

He finished with, "Intolerance is unacceptable and I apologize to anyone I have offended."

CSNPhilly.com's Reuben Frank reported on Friday that Jackson had made anti-gay comments on the All Out Show with Rude Jude and Lord Sear on Sirius's Shade 45 channel on June 30, according to audio posted on Deadspin.com as provided by web site DCFanatic.com.
