Source: Eagles yet to decide on unrestricted FAs

A team official whos involved in negotiations and contracts said a report by the Philadelphia Inquirer that the Eagles will not re-sign any of their unrestricted free agents is premature.

Its just too early in the process to make all those decisions, he said. Most of those decisions havent been made yet.

The Eagles started out the offseason with 15 unrestricted free agents, a figure that dropped to 14 late Tuesday, when Quintin Mikell agreed to contract terms with the Rams. He can't formally sign with the Rams until Friday.

Many of the 14 remaining on the list are borderline pros who might have trouble getting into any training camp, much less the Eagles camp.

Also on the UFA list are David Akers, Stewart Bradley, Nick Cole, Omar Gaither, Antoine Harris, Jerome Harrison, Ellis Hobbs, Max Jean-Gilles, Akeem Jordan, Bobby McCray, Dimitri Patterson, Sav Rocca, Ernie Sims and Reggie Wells.

Why is it too early to determine that the Eagles wont re-sign any of those guys?

Take somebody like Jerome Harrison, who excelled as a backup tailback a year ago. He wants to try and find a starting job. But if he is unable to and the Eagles are unhappy with their backup running backs a month from now, they could decide to bring back Harrison to back up LeSean McCoy.
