As expected, Maclin returns home during break

Jeremy Maclin did indeed return to St. Louis this week to undergo additional medical tests, but the trip was actually planned more than a week ago to coincide with the Eagles four-day gap in training camp and is not a sign of a setback, a high-ranking team official said Thursday.

Maclin has been working out on his own on a side field during training camp at Lehigh until doctors are able to determine exactly what is causing his undisclosed symptoms. The Eagles actually announced several days ago that Maclins trip to St. Louis would happen while the Eagles were absent from Lehigh Tuesday through Friday.

In St. Louis, Maclin was meeting with more doctors and undergoing more tests to try and solve his medical mystery.

Head coach Andy Reid has said little about Maclins condition, although he has said he expects Maclin to be available by opening day on Sept. 11, although that is certainly not a lock.

Maclin caught 70 passes for 964 yards last year, and his 10 touchdown catches ranked seventh in the NFL.
