Hmmm ... a major announcement is coming from the NHL in Philly on Monday? Wonder what that could be.
Kidding! Of course Im kidding. Finallyand, really, I mean finallyit seems the league is ready to make a formal announcement that the Flyers and New York Rangers will square off in the 2012 Winter Classic at Citizens Bank Park on Jan 2.
On Monday at 1:30 p.m., a press conference from the stadium will stream live on NHL.com, PhiladelphiaFlyers.com, Phillies.com and NewYorkRangers.com. It will also air on NHL Network.
And apparently, the folks at CBP chose this afternoon to test out their press conference ambiancethe Winter Classic logo suddenly appeared on the Jumbotron while reporters prepared for tonight's Phillies-Nats game. (You can see a shot of the scene captured by Enrico Campitelli here.)
There are no details yet on what exactly will occur during the conference, but weve got a hunch the two teams' Classic jerseys could beagain, finallyrevealed. After all, by this time last year, we knew most details regarding the Pittsburgh Penguins-Washington Capitals game.
