It rained in Williamsport on Tuesday, washing out the Taney Dragons’ scheduled practice, but the Philadelphia little leaguers would not let the weather cloud their dream.
Head coach Alex Rice said the kids were so eager to get some batting practice in that they were willing to walk the three-quarters of a mile from their lodging to the field through the rain. Eventually, a van made the transportation a bit easier.
They may be surprised they made it all the way to the Little League World Series, but they are there to win.
“It’s absolutely amazing,” Carter Davis, a centerfielder and pitcher, told CSN's Marshall Harris. “I never believed that we could be here.
“I’ve seen it on TV every year and I went up a couple of years ago to see the game, but I never thought I would be there. I dreamed of it, but I never thought it would actually come true.”
Taney, representing the Mid-Atlantic, will begin play in Williamsport against South Nashville on Friday at 3 p.m. The game will air on ESPN2.
