Phillies first-round pick Aaron Nola is moving up another level in the minor-league system.
The right-hander has been promoted to Double A Reading and will pitch for the Fightin Phils on Wednesday.
Nola made seven appearances — six starts — for Single A Clearwater this season. He went 2-3 with a 3.16 ERA and 30 strikeouts in 31 1/3 innings pitched. He also walked just five batters in his time with the Threshers.
The 21-year-old was selected by the Phillies with the seventh-overall pick of the 2014 MLB draft.
Before signing with the Phils on June 10, Nola tossed 116 1/3 innings in 16 starts for LSU in his junior season. He posted an 11-1 record with a 1.47 ERA and 134 strikeouts in those games.
