While the Phillies dropped their second half opener, 6-4, to the Braves on Friday (see Instant Replay), Carlos Ruiz continued his rehab assignment with the Clearwater Threshers.

Ruiz went 1 for 3 with two runs scored in Clearwater's 7-2 win over the Bradenton Marauders. Anthony Phillips pinch hit for Ruiz in the ninth inning.

The 35-year-old was the Threshers' designated hitter and hit third. He caught seven innings Thursday.

Recovering from a concussion suffered June 26, Ruiz is expected to return to the Phils sometime next week.

This season, Ruiz is hitting .257 with two home runs and 14 RBIs.

In his absence,  Cameron Rupp and Koyie Hill have handled the catching duties, as Wil Nieves is also on the disabled list.
