The Phillies are the fifth-most valuable team in Major League Baseball, according to an annual list compiled by Forbes.

The Phils are worth $893 million, up 24 percent from last year. That places them behind only the Yankees ($2.3 billion), Dodgers ($1.615 billion), Red Sox ($1.312 billion) and Cubs ($1 billion). The top-five remains unchanged from a year ago.

The Oakland Athletics experienced the largest percent increase in value, at 46 percent. The Los Angeles Angels had the smallest increase, at nine percent.

The bottom-five teams were five notoriously frugal organizations: the Tampa Bay Rays ($451 million), Kansas City Royals ($457 million), A’s ($468 million), Pittsburgh Pirates ($479 million) and Miami Marlins ($520 million).

Six of the top-10 most valuable teams have won a World Series in the last 12 seasons.
