ATLANTA – After scoring 11 runs and winning their previous two games, the Phillies’ offense ground to a halt in a 9-0 loss to the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday night.

Braves right-hander Shelby Miller manhandled the Phils, holding them to three hits and completing the shutout in 99 pitches. He threw just 24 balls.

Chad Billingsley was hurt by the long ball in his first big-league start since April 15, 2013. Five of the Braves’ six runs against him came on homers.

The Phillies (10-18) have been shut out twice in the last four games. The have not won three straight games all season.

Starting pitching report
Billingsley allowed eight hits, including two home runs, and six runs over five innings. One of the runs was unearned after an infield error. He walked one and struck out two. The right-hander threw 77 pitches, 46 of which were strikes, and topped out at 93 mph.

Miller (4-1) walked one and struck out eight in his third career shutout.

Bullpen report
Dustin McGowan walked four batters and gave up three runs in the seventh inning. The Phillies have walked 114 batters, most in the majors.

Lefty Elvis Araujo made his major-league debut. He pitched into trouble in the sixth, but got out of it with a pair of strikeouts.

At the plate
The Phillies had just three hits and one was a bunt single.

The Braves backed Miller with 12 hits.

Cesar Hernandez started at second base. He had a bunt single and reached on a walk. He started Monday night’s game at third base. He has reached base six times in two games.

Freddie Freeman belted a two-run home run off Billingsley in the first inning. Kelly Johnson smacked a three-run shot off Billingsley in the fourth as the Braves built a 6-0 lead.

The Braves scored three more in the seventh when McGowan could not find the strike zone.

Lineup shuffle
Slumping Chase Utley got the night off. He will probably get another one Wednesday night (see story). Cody Asche hit third.

Ben Revere got his first start in right field since 2012. Darin Ruf started in left field.

In the field
Third baseman Asche made an error on a potential double-play ball and it cost Billingsley a run in the fourth.

The series concludes Wednesday night. Jerome Williams (2-1, 4.08) opposes Braves right-hander Mike Foltynewicz (1-0, 3.60).
