BOX SCORE

MILWAUKEE – The Phillies’ three-game winning streak ended under the weight of one big inning Sunday. The Milwaukee Brewers rallied for six runs in the sixth inning to erase a two-run deficit and beat the Phillies, 8-5, at Miller Park.

The loss dropped the Phillies to 9-10.

Starting pitching report
Jerad Eickhoff gave up a career-high seven runs over 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.

The Phillies scored two runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 4-2 lead, but Eickhoff could not hold the lead in the bottom of the inning. He gave up four straight hits, including a home run and a two-run double on an 0-2 curveball.

Eickhoff gave up nine hits in all. He did not walk a batter and struck out seven. He is 1-3 with a 4.07 ERA in four starts.

Milwaukee’s Wily Peralta went six innings and gave up four runs. He got the win.

Bullpen report
Hector Neris gave up a two-run homer after Eickhoff departed in the sixth. Neris had entered the game with a 10 1/3 inning scoreless streak to open the season

Milwaukee’s bullpen provided three scoreless innings.

At the plate
Maikel Franco drove in a run with a single in the third. It was his eighth RBI in the three-game series. Eickhoff also drove in a run with a single. Cameron Rupp and Cesar Hernandez had back-to-back RBI doubles to give the Phils a short-lived 4-2 lead in sixth.

Scooter Gennett started the Brewers’ six-run rally in the sixth inning with a solo homer against Eickhoff. The Brewers then got two more hits against Eickhoff before Kirk Nieuwenhuis lined a two-run double off the glove of lunging Ryan Howard at first base. A more nimble first baseman might have made a play on the hard-hit ball. But why Eickhoff and battery mate Rupp threw a strike — and a third straight curveball on 0-2 — was questionable.

Ryan Braun and Alex Presley homered for Milwaukee.

In the field
Tyler Goeddel banged his head making a diving catch in left field in the eighth. After the game, he said he had a little headache.

Transaction
The Phillies placed pitcher Charlie Morton on the disabled list with a left hamstring strain (see story). He will have an MRI on Monday in Philadelphia and is expected to miss multiple starts, according to general manager Matt Klentak. Reliever Luis Garcia was recalled from Triple A. The Phils will likely bring up lefty Adam Morgan from Triple A when Morton’s spot in the rotation comes up on Friday.
