BOX SCORE

The Phillies continued to get woeful starting pitching in a 9-5 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night.

Aaron Harang lost his eighth straight start and gave up a career-high 14 hits.

The Brewers have won the first three games of the series and go for a sweep Thursday night. Milwaukee has won four in a row for the first time this season. At 32-48, the Brewers still have the second-worst record in the majors. The Phillies (27-53) have the worst.

Starting pitching report
Phillies starting pitchers went 2-15 with a 6.39 ERA in the month of June.

Harang kicked off July with another poor outing. He gave up eight runs and a career-high 14 hits in five-plus innings. The right-hander has lost eight straight starts and recorded a 6.94 ERA over that span. He is the first Phillies pitcher to lose eight straight starts since Jim Nash in 1972.

For the season, Harang is 4-11 with a 4.08 ERA.

Kyle Lohse, who entered the game with a 6.28 ERA, got the win for Milwaukee. He gave up nine hits and four runs over 6 1/3 innings.

At the plate
The Phillies trailed, 6-0, after 3½ innings. They scored two in the fourth on RBI hits by Odubel Herrera and Freddy Galvis and two in the seventh on an RBI triple by Cesar Herandez and an RBI double by Maikel Franco.

Franco added another RBI double in the ninth. For the night, he had three doubles. He is the first Phillies' rookie since Adolfo Phillips in Sept. 1965 to have three doubles in a game. Franco has 34 RBIs in 44 games.

The Brewers had four two-run innings. Adam Lind connected for a two-run home run in the first inning. Aramis Ramirez had a two-run double in the third. Ryan Braun sneaked a ball under Ryan Howard’s glove and down the right-field line for a two-run double in the fourth and Scooter Gennett had a two-run double in the sixth. Gennett added an RBI triple in the eighth.

The Phils were out-hit, 17-10.
