BOX SCORE

NEW YORK — The New York Mets rallied for a run in the bottom of the 10th inning to beat the Phillies, 5-4, in a wild one at Citi Field on Tuesday night.

Mets starter Jacob deGrom handcuffed the Phillies on four hits over seven shutout innings, but Mets manager Terry Collins went to his bullpen after deGrom allowed two one-out hits in the eighth and the Phillies promptly rallied for four runs to take the lead.

Ken Giles failed to protect that lead and the Mets tied the game in the bottom of the eighth.

The Mets won it on a two-out single by Wilmer Flores in the 10th. Flores also tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the eighth.

With losses on Monday and Tuesday, the Phillies have lost seven straight series to the Mets (dating to May 2014) for the first time in their history.

The Phillies are 1-7 against the Mets this season.

Starting pitching report
Jerome Williams left trailing, 3-0, but he did not pitch badly. He allowed three runs in six innings. All the runs came with two outs in the third after Chase Utley made a poor feed on a would-be double-play ball.

Williams hurt himself by allowing a two-run single in the inning on an 0-2 pitch to Michael Cuddyer.

Williams had not pitched past the fifth inning since April 26, a span of five starts.

deGrom was terrific. He gave up just four hits over the first seven innings and was lifted at just 105 pitches after two one-out singles in the eighth. Last year’s NL Rookie of the Year did not walk a batter over 7 1/3 innings and struck out nine.

Bullpen report
Giles was charged with his first blown save. He entered with a one-run lead in the bottom of the eighth, walked the first batter then allowed a double and a one-out sacrifice fly as the Mets tied the game, 4-4.

Jeanmar Gomez took the loss. He allowed a leadoff single in the 10th and that became the winning run. Lefty Elvis Araujo gave up the hit to Flores that won it for the Mets.

Mets right-hander Hansel Robles allowed two inherited runners to score in the eighth. He was also charged with two runs as the Phillies turned a 3-0 deficit into a 4-3 lead.

Jeurys Familia pitched two scoreless innings for the win.

At the plate
The Phillies did not get a runner to second until the eighth inning when they rallied for four runs to take the lead. Ben Revere’s one-out triple scored two runs. Freddy Galvis and Maikel Franco had RBI singles to put the Phillies ahead.

Lucas Duda and Cuddyer had two-out hits to drive in the Mets’ runs in the third inning.

Flores tied the game with a sacrifice fly against Giles in the eighth. Daniel Murphy helped set up the run with a one-out double.

In the field
Franco made the play of the month at third base with a charging, barehanded scoop and off-balance throw to first to take away what would have been a go-ahead RBI hit by pinch-hitter Darrell Ceciliani in the bottom of the eighth.

Phillies second baseman Utley made a poor feed to shortstop Galvis on a potential double-play ball in the third inning. Had the Phillies turned that double play, they may have gotten out of the inning unscathed. Instead, the Mets rallied for three two-out runs in the inning.

Up next
Sean O’Sullivan (1-3, 3.54) opposes highly touted Mets rookie right-hander Noah Syndergaard (1-2, 3.63) in the series finale Wednesday afternoon.
