The Phillies suffered their third straight defeat in a rain-shortened, 5-4, loss to the New York Mets on Saturday night.

The two teams played several innings in the rain as the game became official. It was called in the top of the seventh inning after a one-hour, 28-minute delay.

The Phillies are 18-16 under interim manager Ryne Sandberg. They enter Sunday’s home finale with a 43-37 record at Citizens Bank Park.

Starting pitching report
Tyler Cloyd (2-6) struggled again. He allowed six hits and five runs in five innings. Cloyd has given up 17 runs in 13 innings over three starts this month.

Mets starter Dillon Gee (12-10) allowed seven hits and four runs over six innings. He walked none and struck out three.

Bullpen report
Ethan Martin and Joe Savery both got work for the Phillies.

At the plate
The Phillies trailed, 5-1, entering the bottom of the sixth. Cesar Hernandez, Jimmy Rollins and Chase Utley all doubled and scored to make it a one-run game, but the Phils got no closer.

Cody Asche drove in the Phils’ first run with a sacrifice fly. He has 22 RBIs in 42 games.

David Wright and Daniel Murphy homered for the Mets against Cloyd. Juan Lagares had a two-run triple.

Wright has 32 homers and 107 RBIs in 154 career games against the Phillies.
