BOX SCORE

MIAMI — Aaron Nola pitched a gem to wrap up the Phillies’ successful weekend in Florida on Sunday.

The rookie right-hander delivered his best outing — eight shutout innings in leading the Phils to a 2-0 win over the Miami Marlins.

Nola’s batterymate, Cameron Rupp, had a big game. He caught two runners trying to steal and smacked a solo homer.

The Phils took three straight from the Marlins after losing the first game of the series on Thursday.

The Phils, now tied with the Marlins at 50-74 in the NL East basement, got three excellent starts the final three games of the series. Rookie Jerad Eickhoff pitched six shutout innings on Friday night. Aaron Harang pitched seven innings of two-run ball on Saturday night.

The longball helped the Phillies win the final two games. They had four solo shots in those games.

Starting pitching report
Nola allowed just three singles — one was a bunt hit — over eight innings. He walked two and struck out six. He threw 100 pitches. He did not finish the game because team officials are watching his workload.

After seven big-league starts, the 22-year-old right-hander is 4-1 with a 3.59 ERA.

Marlins’ lefty Adam Conley gave up just three hits and one run over six innings.

Bullpen report
Ken Giles earned his 10th save.

At the plate
The Phillies scored their first run on a sacrifice fly by Aaron Altherr in the third inning. It was preceded by a walk to Cesar Hernandez and a double by hot-hitting Andres Blanco.

Rupp’s homer was his fifth of the season and fourth in his last 11 games.

Darin Ruf continued to start at first base (over Ryan Howard) against lefties. He hit several balls hard and had a double.

In the field
Rupp threw out a pair of would-be base stealers. He has caught 12 of 35 this season.

Lineup stuff
Newcomer Darnell Sweeney made his first start in centerfield as Odubel Herrera got a rest. Sweeney drew three walks. He was caught stealing in the eighth inning. Sweeney was traded to the Phillies for Chase Utley last week. At the time of the deal, he was leading the Pacific Coast League with 32 steals.
