BOX SCORE

MIAMI – Cody Asche had the first multi-home run game of his career and Aaron Harang pitched well to lead the Phillies to a 6-2 win over the Miami Marlins on Tuesday night.

The win, which coincided with Pete Mackanin officially being named the team’s manager through next season, snapped a six-game losing streak for baseball’s worst team. The six runs were double what the Phillies scored in three games over the weekend in Atlanta.

The Phillies are 5-14 in September.

Starting pitching report
Harang pitched well in earning his first win since July 30. He gave up seven hits and two runs over seven innings. He pitched scoreless ball until the seventh when he was tagged for a triple and a two-run homer.

This was just Harang’s second quality start – six or more innings, three or fewer runs – since May. The right-hander is 6-15 with a 4.93 in 27 starts.

Miami’s Tom Koehler allowed five hits, including a homer, and four runs over five innings.

Bullpen report
Dalier Hinojosa and Ken Giles closed it out for the Phillies.

At the plate
Asche has hit four home runs in the last 11 days, giving him 11 on the season. Both of his home runs were solo shots. Darin Ruf also smacked a solo homer for the Phillies.

Derek Deitrich tripled for the Marlins in the seventh inning and Miguel Rojas followed with a two-run homer.

The big news
The team announced that Mackanin would manage the team in 2016. We took at look at the decision here (see story).

Health check
Mackanin sounded pessimistic about Maikel Franco and Ryan Howard getting back in the lineup before the season ends. Franco is working out in Clearwater, but still feeling discomfort in his left wrist. He suffered a fracture in the wrist on Aug. 11. Howard took a ball off his left knee last week and is still hobbled.

Up next
David Buchanan (2-9, 8.49) pitches against Miami lefty Adam Conley (4-1, 4.22) on Wednesday night.

The Phillies' pitching for the next few days looks like this:

Thursday at Miami – Alec Asher

Friday at Washington – Jerad Eickhoff

Saturday at Washington – Aaron Nola

Sunday at Washington – Aaron Harang.
