The Phillies posted their third straight win and second in as many nights against the Colorado Rockies on Saturday. Maikel Franco belted a three-run homer in the first inning to key the 6-3 win at steamy Citizens Bank Park.
 
Jerad Eickhoff got the win for the Phillies. The bullpen did not allow a run 3 1/3 innings.
 
The Phillies won despite being out-hit, 13-6. They are 55-63 on the season.
 
Starting pitching report
Eickhoff (8-12) opened the game with five scoreless innings before hitting turbulence in the sixth. He allowed a double, a two-run homer and a solo homer in the inning before exiting with two outs.
 
The sixth inning has been a problem for Eickhoff. He has an ERA of 11.65 in that inning.
 
Colorado starter Tyler Anderson (4-4) was ejected after hitting Franco on the leg with a pitch to open the bottom of the fourth inning. Rockies manager Walt Weiss was also ejected. Franco had belted a three-run home run against Anderson in the first inning. In his three-plus innings of work, Anderson gave up four runs.
 
Bullpen report
Luis Garcia stranded a man on third after picking up Eickhoff in the sixth and Michael Mariot had a quick 1-2-3 inning in the seventh to preserve a one-run lead. Edubray Ramos pitched a scoreless eighth.
 
Jeanmar Gomez gave up two one-out hits in the ninth then struck out NL home run leader Nolan Arenado, the potential tying run, for the second out. Gomez then struck out David Dahl with two men on to end the game and lock up his 30th save.
 
Chris Rusin pitched three scoreless innings out of the ‘pen for the Rockies.
 
At the plate
Franco smacked his team-high 21st homer, a three-run shot to center in the first inning. Franco was hit by a pitch and scored the Phillies’ second run on a single by Freddy Galvis in the fourth. The Phillies pushed across two runs in the seventh, one on a single by Aaron Altherr and the other on a sacrifice fly by to dead center by Tommy Joseph. Colorado centerfielder Charlie Blackmon robbed Joseph of a homer on the play.
 
Carlos Ruiz reached base three times with two walks and a single.
 
Cesar Hernandez has reached base in 20 straight games.
 
Daniel Descalso and Tony Wolters homered for the Rockies.
 
Carlos Gonzalez has hit in 19 straight games for the Rockies.
 
The Rockies left 11 men on base.
