BOX SCORE

Jerome Williams had another strong start in leading the Phillies to a 7-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals at Citizens Bank Park Sunday afternoon.

The Phillies took two of three from the Cardinals and have won two straight series at home.

Starting pitching report
Williams pitched eight innings, scattered five hits and allowed just one run. He walked three and struck out five.

The Phillies picked up Williams on waivers from Texas on Aug. 10. Since then, he has made three starts and allowed just four runs in 20 1/3 innings. He has won both of his last two starts.

St. Louis starter Justin Masterson allowed five runs in three innings and took the loss. He is 2-2 with a 7.43 ERA in five starts since joining the Cardinals in a trade from Cleveland last month.

Bullpen report
Justin De Fratus got the final three outs for the Phillies.

Cardinals lefty Nick Greenwood allowed two runs in 3 1/3 innings.

At the plate
Chase Utley, Ben Revere and Wil Nieves all drove in runs with singles. Williams helped his cause with a successful safety squeeze in the second inning. Jimmy Rollins clubbed a two-run home run in the seventh to give the Phils a 7-1 lead.

Ben Revere drew his first walk since July 5, a span of 42 games and 171 plate appearances.

Jhonny Peralta doubled and scored the Cardinals’ only run on a single by Oscar Tavares in the fourth inning.
