The Phillies on Friday made a difficult decision, replacing Charlie Manuel with third-base coach Ryne Sandberg (see story).
Manuel's last managerial win was his 1,000th, 780 of which came with the Phillies, most in team history. He managed the Phillies to a 2008 World Series title, their first championship since 1980.
The Phils were 53-67 when Manuel was relieved of his duties.
Meanwhile, Sandberg won't make any drastic changes in his first game as the interim skipper. His lineup remains the same as Manuel's last.
