CLEARWATER, Fla. – So much for Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez making his Phillies pitching debut on Thursday.
The right-hander did not work out with teammates Monday. According to manager Ryne Sandberg, Gonzalez was ill and headed home early.
As a result, Gonzalez will not pitch in Dunedin on Thursday. His spring debut could come Saturday against the Yankees in Tampa, depending on how he feels.
More will be known about Gonzalez's condition and schedule when he throws a bullpen session in the coming days.
