The Phillies activated Delmon Young on Tuesday, who is motivated to produce at a high level again (see story).

Here is a look at the injury news around MLB:

Marlins place Stanton on DL
MIAMI -- Miami Marlins slugger Giancarlo Stanton expects to be sidelined for about a month because of a strained right hamstring.

Stanton underwent an MRI on Tuesday and said the diagnosis was a grade-two strain on the one-to-three scale for the injury. He was hurt trying to beat out a grounder in Monday's 15-inning victory over the New York Mets, and was put on the 15-day disabled list Wednesday.

The injury occurred just as last year's NL slugging leader showed signs of emerging from a prolonged slump at the season's start. He hit his first home run Saturday, and two more homers Sunday.

Now the Marlins, already saddled with the worst record in the majors, will be without their best hitter for several weeks.

Strasburg won't miss a start
Nationals ace Stephen Strasburg, who experienced forearm tightness after Monday night's start against the Braves, is expected to make his next start, per

Strasburg is "healthy, happy and ready to pitch Saturday," Nats GM Mike Rizzo said. "He was given a clean bill of health."

Manager Davey Johnson still wants to see Strasburg get through his regularly schedule bullpen session Wednesday, but is expecting no issues: "The doctor didn't think anything was wrong. Why should I?"

Strasburg put it bluntly.

"I'm not missing my next start, I'll tell you right now," he said.

Braves' Ayala lands on DL
ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Braves right-hander Luis Ayala has been placed on the 15-day disabled list because of an anxiety disorder.

Tuesday's move was retroactive to April 25. Right-hander David Carpenter was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett in time for Tuesday night's game against the Washington Nationals.

Atlanta acquired the 35-year-old Ayala from the Baltimore Orioles on April 10 for minor league left-hander Chris Jones. Ayala was 0-1 with a 3.86 ERA in five games with the Braves, all in relief.

Carpenter did not appear in a game during a brief earlier stay in Atlanta before he was sent back to Gwinnett on April 22.

Youkilis goes on DL
NEW YORK -- Kevin Youkilis has joined Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira and Curtis Granderson on the New York Yankees' disabled list.

The Yankees said Tuesday that Youkilis has a lumbar spine sprain.

Infielder Corban Joseph, who has never played in the major leagues, was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The 34-year-old Youkilis is hitting .286 with two homers and seven RBIs in 17 games. He has played just once since April 20, going 0 for 3 Saturday.
