1. When and where
Three games left. The Phillies take on the Braves in the second of a four-game series Friday night at 7:30 p.m. on CSN.
The Phillies dropped the series opener, their seventh loss in eight games.
2. Chance to play spoiler
The Braves won, 7-1, on Thursday to tie the Cardinals in the race for home-field advantage in the National League at 94-65.
The fourth-place Phillies (72-87) should be jumping at the chance to play spoiler against a team they're 7-9 against this season.
3. Lee's last start
Cliff Lee (14-7, 2.93) makes his 31st and final start tonight in Atlanta. Safe to say he's on a roll.
Over his last seven starts, Lee is 4-1 with a 2.12 ERA. He's struck out 58 batters and walked five in 51 innings.
It's been a dominant season for Lee, who has a 1.03 WHIP and 209 strikeouts to 32 walks in 214 2/3 innings. It wasn't quite as good as his 2011 season, but Lee has a better WHIP and K/BB ratio this year and was much more consistent. If you recall, his 2011 was boosted by two of the best pitching months in major-league history -- he had an ERA below 1.00 in June and August -- whereas this year he was solid from start to finish and hit only one rough patch, in July.
4. Rollins rollin'
Jimmy Rollins did very little this season, hitting 17 fewer homers than he had last season and hovering around .250 since April. But he's played very well since Ryne Sandberg took over and it may have been just the type of rejuvenation he needed.
Rollins, who had a .358 on-base percentage under Sandberg entering last night, went 3 for 4 with his 35th double of the year. Rollins has the highest walk rate of his career this year.
