Grady Sizemore's days with the Phillies are over.

After designating him for assignment last Friday to make room for Cody Asche in the outfield, the Phillies released Sizemore on Monday night.

In 39 games this season, Sizemore slashed .245/.288/.296 with no homers and six RBIs.

The Phillies signed Sizemore to a minor-league contract in June 2014 following his release from the Red Sox. The Phillies called him up from Triple A Lehigh Valley the next month and he hit .253 with three home runs and 12 RBIs in 60 games.

Before the end of the 2014 World Series, the Phillies re-signed Sizemore to a one-year, $2 million deal.

This season, the 32-year-old split time in right field with Jeff Francoeur.

Once a three-time All-Star with the Indians from 2006-08, Sizemore's career derailed because of knee injuries, which forced him to miss all of 2012 and 2013.
