After being outrighted off the 40-man roster on March 11, relief pitcher Michael Stutes has been released by the Phillies, the team announced Wednesday morning.
Stutes was working in the Phils’ minor-league camp after surprisingly be a part of the team’s first spring cuts.
As a rookie, the right-hander opened eyes with the 102-win Phillies in 2011 when he posted a 3.63 ERA in 57 appearances.
Then shoulder issues derailed his next two seasons in which he posted a 5.02 ERA in just 22 games.
In three innings pitched this spring, Stutes gave up seven earned runs.
