The Phillies on Tuesday selected the contract of left-handed pitcher Cesar Jimenez from Triple A Lehigh Valley.

Jimenez, 28, will take the roster spot of Antonio Bastardo, who was suspended 50 games by Major League Baseball for violations in relation to the Biogenesis investigation.

In 36 games with the IronPigs this season, Jimenez has posted a 4-2 record with a 3.12 ERA and three saves.

Jimenez signed a minor-league contract with the Phils in December of 2012. He last appeared in the big leagues in 2011 with the Seattle Mariners.

In 43 career MLB games -- all with Seattle -- Jimenez is 1-2 with a 5.40 ERA.

Jimenez will wear uniform No. 56 with the Phils.
