Phillies ace Roy Halladay will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Clearwater on Thursday.
Halladay last pitched on May 27 in St. Louis, and left that game after two innings. He was diagnosed with a strained lat muscle behind his right shoulder the next day.
Initial medical estimates had Halladay sidelined for six-to-eight weeks. The start of the all-star break on Sunday marked six weeks since he's been sidelined.
Halladay has started 11 games for the Phils this season, posting a 4-5 record with a 3.98 ERA.
