Phillies sign Rodrigo Lopez to minor-league deal

The Phillies on Saturday signed righthanded pitcher Rodrigo Lopez to a minor-league deal that also carries an invitation to spring training.

According to CSNPhilly.com Phillies Insider Jim Salisbury, Lopez will receive a 1 million base salary plus incentives if he makes the 25-man roster out of spring training.

The 37-year-old appeared in four games for the Cubs last season, tossing 6 13 innings. He allowed eight hits, six runs and struck out two batters.

Lopez appeared in seven games (three starts) for the Phillies in 2009. The righty went 3-1 with a 5.70 ERA before being released by the team on Sept. 9.

In 257 career games with the Padres, Orioles, Rockies, Phillies, Diamondbacks and Cubs, Lopez is 81-89 with a 4.82 ERA and 865 strikeouts in 1,350.2 innings.
