Worley to miss Wed. start with sore elbow

All the suitcases were on the equipment truck.

All of them except Vance Worleys.

That was the telltale sign that something was amiss.

Worley did not accompany the Phillies to Chicago after Tuesdays 4-3 win over the Astros. He said he will stay behind and have his right elbow evaluated on Wednesday.

Its a little sore, Worley told CSNPhilly.com.

Obviously, Worley will not make his scheduled start against the Cubs on Wednesday night. The Phillies have not announced a replacement, but Kyle Kendrick seems to be a logical candidate. Joe Savery will likely join the Phils for the trip to Chicago, but nothing is official.

Worley is 3-2 with a 3.07 ERA in seven starts this season. He allowed just seven earned runs in 32 innings over his first five starts. He has given up eight runs in 16 innings in his last two starts.

Worley said his elbow has been bothering him recently. He said he does not think the problem is serious, but wants to get it checked out.
