Postgame Plus: What's behind Phillies' 5-game win streak?

Share

The Phillies on Sunday shut out the Diamondbacks, 6-0 (see Instant Replay).

The win completed a three-game sweep, the Phils' first of the season.

It also was the Phillies' fifth straight win, their first five-game winning streak since September 2012, and it was Sean O'Sullivan's first win in two years (see game story).

And now, after a 6-4 homestand, the Phillies head out to Colorado to begin a 10-game road trip. So what's behind the Phillies' winning streak?

"Look directly at the pitching the last four games," Phillies analyst Marlon Anderson said on Postgame Plus. "Guys are stepping up, moving the ball around. The team is also giving early leads to the pitcher to help them out a little bit.

"It's great to see them finish a homestand like that, but just get off to a good start before they go out on the road."
