According to multiple reports, Carlos Zambrano is headed to the disabled list with right shoulder stiffness.
Zambrano exited his start on Friday night at Lehigh Valley after two innings (see story) with a shoulder injury.
CSNPhilly.com's Jim Salisbury addressed Zambrano's future with the Phils on Friday night:
"Zambrano won’t be joining the Phillies next week. He left his start at Lehigh Valley after two innings with a shoulder injury Friday night. There weren’t a lot of details, but GM Ruben Amaro Jr. had been told that Zambrano was in 'serious pain.'
"Zambrano can opt out of his minor-league contract if he isn’t brought to the majors by Monday. That will not happen. It’s unclear what Zambrano’s future holds."
In 19 innings pitched at Lehigh Valley, Zambrano is 1-0 with an ERA of 3.32, having struck out 18 and walked 10.
