PHOENIX – Roy Halladay will have surgery on his injured shoulder Wednesday in Los Angeles. Shoulder specialist Neal ElAttrache will perform the procedure.

Halladay, who turns 36 the day before the surgery, was examined by ElAttrache in Los Angeles on Tuesday. He was diagnosed with a bone spur in his right shoulder, a partial tear in his rotator cuff and some fraying of the labrum. All three issues will be addressed in an arthroscopic procedure.

Halladay believes he can be back pitching in three months, but a true timetable on his recovery can’t be established until ElAttrache gets a look inside the shoulder to determine if the damage is consistent with what he saw on an MRI and in an X-ray.

Here’s a full story on Halladay’s situation (see story).
