Carlos Ruiz is headed back to Eastern Pennsylvania. The Phillies' all-star catcher will play for the Reading Fightin Phils on Friday and Saturday nights in preparation of being activated for Sunday afternoon's big-league game against the Mets in New York.
Ruiz, who is serving a 25-game suspension for testing positive for a banned stimulant last season, will play games at Single A Clearwater on Tuesday and Wednesday before traveling north on Thursday.
Delmon Young to join Lehigh Valley
Outfielder Delmon Young, who has been playing at Clearwater, will join the Triple A Lehigh Valley club in Indianapolis on Thursday. He is expected to play with Lehigh Valley until at least the end of the month. Young is recovering from ankle surgery. The Phillies have eyed May 1 as a possible date for Young to be ready to play in the majors, though that is subject to how the player feels and performs.
