Darin Ruf will start in left field and bat sixth in the Phillies' series finale against the Seattle Mariners Wednesday afternoon.

Ruf went 2 for 3 with a single and a double in the series opener -- a 4-2 Phillies win -- but was removed from the lineup in favor of Domonic Brown Tuesday night. Ruf has reached base in nine of his last 14 plate appearances and is hitting .360 against left-handed pitchers.

Wednesday will mark Ruf's sixth start in 19 games this month. He's batting .412 with a .524 OBP in August.

Elsewhere in the lineup, Wil Nieves will take over duties behind the plate and Andres Blanco will replace Cody Asche at third base.

Cole Hamels (6-6, 2.44 ERA) gets the start for the Phils, who are 3-8 all-time against Seattle. The left-hander has lasted seven-plus innings in 17 of his last 19 starts and has posted a 1.87 ERA over that span.

Fellow southpaw James Paxton (3-0, 2.20 ERA) will oppose Hamels. The 25-year-old spent four months on the disabled list with a back injury, but has been effective since his return.

Here's the full lineup:

1. Ben Revere, CF
2. Jimmy Rollins, SS
3. Chase Utley, 2B
4. Ryan Howard, 1B
5. Marlon Byrd, RF
6. Darin Ruf, LF
