For the second straight game, Laynce Nix will start in right field and bat seventh for the Phillies.
Nix went 1 for 4 Thursday night with a run, two strikeouts and a blast to right field that died at the warning track at Turner Field.
The Phillies will take on new Royal Wade Davis, a 6-foot-5 right-hander with a mid-90s fastball and several breaking pitches (see game notes).
Davis has even platoon splits but a penchant for serving up homers.
The Royals’ lineup is more interesting, as KC’s best hitter, Billy Butler, is sitting. Butler is the regular DH, and despite comments from Ned Yost earlier in the week that Butler would play first base this weekend, he’s on the bench and Eric Hosmer is at his usual position. That could change Saturday and Sunday against lefties John Lannan and Cole Hamels.
Here are the lineups:
1) Ben Revere, CF
2) Jimmy Rollins, SS
3) Chase Utley, 2B (5 for 11, 3 XBH this season)
