Bottalico: Phillies' offense was outstanding
Phillies centerfielder Ben Revere is back in the leadoff spot for Sunday's series finale against the Washington Nationals.
Revere, who turned 26 on Saturday, did not play in the Phils' 7-2 win over the Nationals. Tony Gwynn Jr. served as the leadoff hitter and went 2 for 4 with a walk and run scored while filing in for Revere.
Marlon Byrd, who drove in two runs on Saturday, will move up to fourth in the batting order. Byrd is the Phils' hottest batter, having gone 13 for 29 with two homers and 10 RBIs in his past seven games.
Ryan Howard, who will bat fifth, has struggled mightily in his career against Nationals' starter Gio Gonzalez. He's gone hitless in eight at-bats with four strikeouts versus the lefty (see game notes).
Elsewhere in the lineup, Jayson Nix will replace Cody Asche at third base. Nix is batting just .161 with two RBIs in 12 games for the Phils this season.
Roberto Hernandez gets the start for the Phils. He's 1-1 with a 2.40 ERA in two career starts against the Nats.
