The Phillies found themselves in a familiar situation in Game 2 of their four-game series with the Diamondbacks Friday night: a lack of run support and a bullpen collapse.

Antonio Bastardo failed to get the Phils out of the seventh inning with a lead and Mike Adams served up a homer to Miguel Montero an inning later as the Phillies fell 3-2 to the Diamondbacks. Tonight, Cliff Lee (3-2, 3.26) and the Phils try to snap a three-game losing skid in the desert (see game notes).

The only change in the Phils’ lineup from last night is that Delmon Young replaces John Mayberry in right field and will bat fifth with Carlos Ruiz bouncing down to seventh.

Phillies manager Charlie Manuel is again splitting up Ryan Howard and Chase Utley in the lineup. Utley bats second while Howard stays in his usual cleanup spot.

Howard has struggled in the last three games after going 2 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs in the Phils’ last win, which came May 7 against the Giants. Howard is 0 for his last 9 at-bats with five strikeouts.

The Phillies’ lineup faces sinker-baller Trevor Cahill (2-3, 2.80). The 25-year-old right-hander looks to be back to his 2010 form when he was with the Athletics. Batters are hitting .225 off him and he owns the fifth-highest groundball rate in MLB at 56.3 percent.

Michael Young will bat third tonight and has faced Cahill the most out of all Phillies. Young is a career .250 hitter with a homer and three RBIs against Cahill.
