Ryan Howard is back in the Phillies’ lineup for Monday’s game in Boston and, surprisingly, will play the field.

There was some thought Howard could take a day or two off from the field and DH at Fenway Park to rest his sore knee. But instead he’s at first base and Delmon Young will serve as the designated hitter.

Jimmy Rollins is in the three-hole tonight for the first time since April 15 and just the second time this season. Michael Young, who is mired in a 23-game slump that has dropped his batting average from .352 to .268, bats second.

Ben Revere is leading off against Red Sox righty Alfredo Aceves. Revere has quietly hit .333 this month with 19 hits in 17 starts.

By making Delmon Young the DH, the Phillies are able to fit John Mayberry in the lineup in right field.
