The Phillies will honor Jimmy Rollins before Monday night’s game with a ceremony for breaking the club’s all-time hit record two weeks ago. When the game begins afterwards, the Phillies will again honor Rollins by putting him atop of the batting order.
Rollins is back in the leadoff spot for the fourth time in the last five games after ceding it to Ben Revere in Sunday’s loss in St. Louis. With Rollins starting in the top spot, the Phillies are 7-8 this season and he is 15 for 58 (.259) with four homers and nine runs scored.
Rollins has fared much better against Marlins’ starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (4-3, 3.76), going 8 for 21 with a homer with two doubles and four walks.
Here’s the rest of the Phillies’ batting order for Monday night’s game:
1. Jimmy Rollins, ss
2. Carlos Ruiz, c
3. Chase Utley, 2b
4. Ryan Howard, 1b
5. Marlon Byrd, rf
6. Cody Asche, 3b
7. Dom Brown, lf
8. Ben Revere, cf
9. Roberto Hernandez, p
Roberto Hernandez (3-5, 4.52) heads into the game following a win in Atlanta even though he allowed five runs on five walks and eight hits in six innings last Wednesday.
Hernandez is looking to get back on a good streak after posting a 6.43 ERA in his last four games. The Marlins may be the team to bounce back against since Hernandez is 1-1 with a 1.72 ERA in two career starts against the Marlins.
