Chase Utley is out of the Phillies' starting lineup for the first time since July 6 as the Phils open up a three-game series with the Mets at Citi Field.

Reid Brignac will play second base and bat eighth.

With Utley out, Marlon Byrd bats third. In six games there this season, Byrd has gone 4 for 27 with a double, homer, two RBIs and 10 strikeouts.

Howard is 2 for 4 in his career against Mets starter Bartolo Colon with a pair of two-run jacks.

Domonic Brown is in the five-hole for just the third time all season. Brown has hit .292 over his last 20 games.
