The Phillies on Tuesday announced several changes to their development staff, including the additions of two major-leaguers to the coaching staffs of their low-level affiliates.

Former catcher Pat Borders, who played for nine teams during a 17-year major-league career, will manage Class A Williamsport. Borders was the starting catcher for the World Series champion Blue Jays in 1992 and 1993, winning World Series MVP in '92 and helping the Jays down the Phillies the following year.

Former Padres and Mariners pitcher Brian Sweeney also joins the Phils' system as the pitching coach for the rookie-level Gulf Coast Phillies.

There was a complete shake-up of the Class A Clearwater staff, with Greg Legg taking over as manager and Rob Ducey and Steve Schrenk joining as assistants. Ducey, who spent three of his 13 major-league seasons roaming the Phillies' outfield, enters his second year as a coach in the system. It is Schrenk's 12th year as a minor-league pitching coach.

Double A Reading and Triple A Lehigh Valley return the cores of their staffs. Dave Brundage is back to manage the IronPigs with Sal Rende, Mickey Morandini and Ray Burris assisting. Dusty Wathan is back for an eighth season as Reading's manager.
