According to multiple reports on Twitter, the Phillies have informed Bobby Abreu that he will not make the team, thus ending his attempt to return to right field at Citizens Bank Park and avoid the wall one final time. Those who watched today's game down in Florida reported a couple of fielding mistakes made by Abreu this afternoon. His work in the field surely factored into this decision. Matt Gelb tweets that the team may try to get him to stick around in the minors in case they need him later in the season.
Seems like Phillies will attempt to convince Abreu to stick around in minors. Bat was good. Glove was not. He looks like an AL bench player.
