Charlie Sics Righties, Blanton on Bumgarner as Phils Go for Three in a Row

After getting to Tim Linecum early on Monday night and starting off their 10-game road trip with a victory, the Phils will look to put together their first real winning streak of the season Tuesday night in San Fran as they go for their third in a row.
In a rematch of Game 4 of 2010 NLCS, Joe Blanton squares off against the newly-paid Madison Bumgarner.

Just yesterday, the 22-year-old lefthander agreed to a 5-year, $36.56 million contract that will keep him with the Giants through 2019. Not counting his Game 4 no-decision, Bumgarner is just 0-1 in one career start against the Phillies, but pitched well in that outing on Aug. 4 of last year, surrendering just two solo shots over eight innings.
As the young pitcher has begun to put together a body of work, his career opponent batting average versus righties (.270) is .31 points higher than against lefties (.239). Consequently, this evening's Phils lineup is comprised entirely of righthanded bats and switch hitters, with Wiggington at first and Mayberry in left. With that strategy, they better get to Bumgarner before they need to pinch-hit for anybody, as they'll only have lefthanded bats remaining on the bench.

As for Blanton, he has a larger sample size against the Giants than Bumgarner against the Phillies, one that's pretty erratic. Joe has allowed no more than two earned runs in 4 of his 7 starts against the Giants for a 2-1 record. But the other three starts -- 0-2 with a whopping 10.66 ERA. In FireJoeMorgan-speak, that would be "inconsistent."
First pitch scheduled for 10:15 at AT&T Park on TCN. Manager Charlie Manuel's lineup for the night:

Victorino CF, Polanco 3B, Rollins SS, Pence RF, Wigginton 1B, Mayberry LF, Ruiz C, Galvis 2B, Blanton P

Can the Phils win three in a row for the first time this season as they play by the bay?
