Galvis-free Phillies look to Mets to stop this losing streak

The Phillies have lost four games in a row (all to Toronto) and 6 of their last 10. Not very good baseball. But the Mets have lost 3 in a row and 7 of their last 10, so both teams have been really bad lately! Maybe the Phillies can find their groove up at CitiField. That said, the Fightins' are still looking up at the Mets in the standings, and everyone else in the East for that matter.

Oh, and the Phillies have lost five times in a row to the Mets. From the game notes:

During the current streak, Philadelphia’s pitchers have posted a 6.75 ERA (31 ER, 41.1 IP) while their offense has batted just .222 (34-153) ... The Phillies haven’t lost six straight games to the Mets since July 3 to September 20, 1996.

Times are hard.

Ruben Amaro Jr. mercifully sent Freddy Galvis down to the minors to help him find his stroke at the plate. Freddy departs with just 2 hits for the Phils in 42 plate appearances (.048). They'll give offseason signing Reid Brignac a shot. He's coming off a big night in Triple-A where he hit two home runs for the IronPigs on Thursday. Brignac has 5 on the season and was hitting .284.

The Phils will roll out Roberto Hernandez this evening and Kyle Kendrick and Cole Hamels on Saturday and Sunday.

While Ryne Sandberg likes to tinker his lineup, tonight will be the one most expected coming into the season: Revere, Rollins, Utley, Howard, Byrd, Brown, Chooch, and Asche.

7:10 from New York. Please beat the Mets.
