Game Chat: Cliff Lee vs. Zack Greinke, Aces On the Block?

Share

With both the Phillies and Brewers looking like long shots to make the postseason, tonight's starting pitchers, Cliff Lee (1-6, 3.72) and Zack Greinke (9-3, 3.57), could be watched closely not just by the 44,000 or so fans at Citizens Bank Park this evening but also by scouts of other team's with a more realistic chance at a deep postseason run.

Plenty of other guys on both teams will likely see their names flying around the rumor mill as well over the next week. Should be fun.

The top advance scout for the Atlanta Braves, former Phillies skipper Jim Fregosi, is one guy at the Bank tonight with his eye on someone. The Braves were the team rumored to have landed Ryan Dempster, but that still appears on hold as the right-hander may not want to pitch in the ATL.

Odds are the Phillies wouldn't want to trade Lee within the division anyway, but speculation is the word of the week.

As for Greinke, the White Sox have been rumored to be hotly interested in the Brewers ace.

Hurting Polly

Placido Polanco is once again out of the lineup this evening and will have an MRI on his sore back.
