Game Chat: Roy Halladay Takes On Gio Gonzalez

Share

Quite the pitching matchup this evening at Citizens Bank Park when the seasoned vet takes on the very promising youngster. Roy Halladay (7-7, 3.95) will go up against former Phillies prospect Gio Gonzalez (16-6, 3.2).

You may recall the Phils got Gio in the original Jim Thome trade from the White Sox and gave him back to the South Siders in the Freddy Garcia deal. Ugh.

Gonzalez spent his formative years with the Oakland A's but has really flourished this season in Washington. He's been stellar in two starts against the Phillies going 2-0 with a 0.69 ERA.

He'll face a Phillies lineup that will be without Dom Brown who is battling some knee soreness. Michael Martinez will start in right field. The Fightins will also once again be without Placido Polanco, whose back has flared up yet again.

Charlie's nine: Rollins, Frandsen, Utley, Howard, Mayberry, Kratz, Pierre, Martinez, Doc.

7:05 start. Could be a little cool at the ball park.
