Howard Could Resume Baseball Activities Next Week

Share

One day after Chase Utley participated in pre-game drills --  the first time in three weeks the Phillies second baseman fielded a ground ball or took a cut in a batting cage with teammates -- the club passed on more good news on Tuesday about another one of their ailing stars. Here's Ruben Amaro's statement on Ryan Howard's progress:

After seeing the wound specialist in Philadelphia yesterday, Ryan Howard’s wound has gotten smaller and is healing. We’ve been advised to limit his activities for one more week to allow it to continue to heal. We hope that he will be able to re-start his baseball activities thereafter.

Ruben also updated Hunter Pence's condition:

Additionally, Hunter Pence will undergo a precautionary MRI on his left shoulder (non-throwing) here in Phoenix. We hope to have the results later this afternoon.

There is still no timetable for any of their returns to the lineup, but I think I speak for Phillies fans everywhere when I say: Get well, get well soon, we wish you to get well.
