Spot starter Kyle Kendrick (0-3, 5.96) gets a rough draw in the Fightins-Nats opener tonight, going head-to-head with lefthander Gio Gonzalez (5-1, 2.22), once a member of the Phillies farm system. Kendrick dueled Stephen Strasburg to a no decision in a losing effort on May 4, while Gonzalez picked up the win the following night, pitching seven innings of one-run ball. In the final game of that series, Cole Hamels threw a baseball at Bryce Harper, and there is a perception these two clubs playing one another is kind of a big deal now.

Jimmy Rollins is out of the lineup tonight, as he and his wife celebrate the birth of their first child today, a baby girl. Congratulations, Rollinses, and go Phils.

Lineup vs WAS: Pierre LF, Polanco 3B, Victorino CF, Pence RF, Ruiz C, Mayberry 1B, Galvis SS, Fontenot 2B, Kendrick P
